F.P.Journe Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante

Light Sporty Additions to the lineSport Collection

Unlike the brand’s more classically styled references, watches in the lineSport collection are designed to bridge the gap between innovation and sport. Comfort, lightness and legibility are of paramount importance. Available in 3 versions: one in Platinum PT 950, one in 18 K red Gold and one in Titanium grade 5, the F.P.Journe Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante ticks all of these boxes and more.

The case of all variants measures 44 mm in diameter by 12 mm thick and houses the innovative monopoussoir split-second chronograph movement with a large date. The svelte Titanium version houses a movement made in an Aluminium alloy – a material rarely used in calibre making. Contributing to the overall lightness of the watch.

A Focus on Legibility

The Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante features an impressive power reserve of 80 hours. Making it possible to efficiently use the chronograph with the rattrapante function after 2 days. Every element has been designed to enhance legibility, including the oversized date window (measuring 5.20 x 2.80 mm). Other date windows look shy and diminutive in comparison. Inspired by Only Watch 2017

The dial of the Titanium model is made of an aluminium alloy of anthracite colour with appliques numerals with Superluminova. The two chronograph counters are engraved and in sapphire, allowing the user to admire the movement while on the wrist. Unlike the precious metal variants, the hands and applied numerals are coated in Superluminova.

The inlaid tachymetric bezel encircling the dial is made of ceramic and sports the same typography as seen on F.P.Journe’s 2017 Only Watch timepiece.

Under The Hood – The Calibre 1518

This manually wound calibre 1518 was conceived by F.P.Journe, and, as usual, is entirely made in F.P.Journe’s  Manufacture. F.P.Journe perpetuates the age-old watchmaking tradition, whereby a single watchmaker is tasked with all the assembly stages from beginning to end. Also inspired by the Chronograph made for Only Watch, calibre 1518 features a chronograph direct gearing with a rocking pinion avoiding the jump of the hand at the start.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a piece of high-horology as functional and as wearable as F.P.Journe’s Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante. It bends the easily recognisable aesthetic codes the brand is famous for into a light, avant-garde package fit for any activity the wearer engages in.
