All of Voutilainen’s timepieces are hand-made, polished using traditional watchmaking techniques like anglage, bevelling, Clou De Paris and more, then painstakingly assembled and tested. Aside from the balance springs, main springs and jewels, all parts of the movements used are made in-house.

The escapement of the 217QRS makes the movement special; This is the first watch to have two wheels in such a configuration. The escape wheels give a direct impulse to the balance through the impulse jewel. This retreat is extremely efficient and requires lesser energy than traditional leisurely retreats, providing benefits in terms of longevity and stability in daily use.

The in-house movement inspired from Vingt-8 is designed, built, fabricated, finished and assembled entirely in Voutilainen’s workshops. The design and philosophy of the movement combines respect for longevity and precision with classical watchmaking tradition.
