Ressense is part of an industry that is often guided by tradition and heritage. However, the Antwerp-based watchmaker continues to define its own trajection, this time with the introduction of the TYPE 11 for Watches and Wonders 2026. Conceived as “The Watch of the Now”, it brings together the brand’s defining ideas in a form that feels both resolved and purposeful. It is a considered, consolidated design that reflects where Ressence stands today, capturing a balance between familiarity and originality while remaining unmistakably true to its identity.

THE RESSENCE TYPE 11 IS A WATCH FOR THE PRESENT

At the centre of the TYPE 11 is a significant development for Ressence: the Werk RW-01. Fully designed and developed in-house, the movement has been engineered specifically to power the patented Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS), marking the first time the brand has achieved complete integration between its mechanism and display. In earlier creations, these elements existed as separate entities; here, they are conceived as one unified system, sharing components and working in seamless harmony, resulting in a more efficient and cohesive approach to timekeeping.
This philosophy of integration is further expressed through a movement architecture that departs from convention. The RW-01 adopts a distinctive triangular layout defined by three circles, echoing the visual language of the dial itself. COSC-compliant and operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it delivers a 60-hour power reserve while remaining purpose-built to serve the ROCS display. In keeping with Ressence’s principle of “Simplication”, the movement is not conceived as a visual centrepiece, but rather as a dedicated engine, designed to support clarity, functionality, and the overall user experience.

The TYPE 11 expresses this clarity through its design. Much like its predecessor, its Grade 5 titanium case adopts a rounded, pebble-like silhouette with integrated lugs, offering classical proportions that lend a refined presence on the wrist. Measuring 41 mm in diameter and 11 mm in thickness, it achieves a sense of balance and wearability that feels natural rather than imposed.
Above, a domed sapphire crystal reveals a convex titanium dial animated by the ROCS system, where rotating discs replace hands to display hours, minutes, seconds, and power reserve in a continuous and fluid motion. The absence of a crown reinforces the purity of the form, with winding and time-setting carried out via a discreet caseback lever. This helps to preserve the clean lines of the case.

Central to the identity of the TYPE 11 is the patented Ressence Orbital Convex System. Rather than relying on traditional hands or indices, time is presented through a series of rotating discs arranged across a convex dial. This approach creates a dynamic yet intuitive display, where information is read as part of a constantly evolving composition rather than through fixed markers.
The result is a display that prioritises legibility while offering a distinctive visual language, reinforcing Ressence’s focus on clarity and human-centred design. It is a system that not only communicates time, but does so in a way that feels immediate and natural to the wearer.

One of the most distinctive elements of the TYPE 11 is its approach to indicating power reserve. Ressence introduces a patented system using ceramic micro-balls arranged in contrasting tones, offering an intuitive and visually engaging display of the watch’s energy.

As the movement winds, whether through motion on the wrist or manual input, lighter balls gradually emerge while darker ones recede. When power diminishes, the sequence reverses, creating a dynamic yet easily understood indication that aligns with the brand’s emphasis on legibility and user-centred design. The 60-hour power reserve also ensures that the watch remains running across a full weekend when left unworn.
The TYPE 11 is presented in three colourways — Pine, Sky, and Latte — and each defined by a considered interplay of tones and details, including colour-matched seconds indicators and variations in the ceramic elements of the power reserve display. These subtle distinctions ensures that each version has its own character while maintaining a coherent design language across the collection.
Complementing the case are four strap options: leather, rubber, a leather-rubber hybrid, and a titanium Milanese mesh. The latter offers a rare combination of lightness, durability, and breathability, reinforcing the watch’s focus on everyday wear. Weighing 49 grams including the strap and offering 3 ATM water resistance, the TYPE 11 is designed to accompany daily life with ease and practicality.
With the TYPE 11, Ressence presents what it considers its most complete watch to date. From the introduction of its first proprietary movement to the refinement of its display system, each element contributes to a unified vision that prioritises clarity, integration, and purpose. It is not an exploration of what lies ahead, nor a reflection on what has come before, but rather a precise articulation of the present, shaped by contemporary thinking and executed with a clear sense of intent.
