The seaworthy models developed by the English watchmaker John Harrison in the 18th century are considered to be the first observation watches , also known as B watches . They represented a decisive advance in nautical navigation. In the course of time, the observation watches prevailed, especially in the military sector, where they were used for location determination and navigation, the time coordination of processes and adherence to time limits. With the 856 B-Uhr we are continuing this tradition and transferring the characteristic, historical look of a B-Uhr to a comfortable diameter of 40 mm. As is customary with traditional B-clocks , the hour hand is deliberately withdrawn on the 856 B-clock. It points to a separate inner hour circle, while the dominant minute hand passes over the outer minute track. This minute hand, like the numerals, indices and the main marking in the form of a triangular arrow, is highlighted by an ivory-colored coating. The arrangement of the hour hand and minute hand on the black dial follows historical guidelines: the minute was the more important unit of time in use, and it had to be recorded quickly and clearly.
