Long History of Exceptional Ladies Watches

With a rich and thriving history that dates back to 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the most respected names in watchmaking today. The intricate movements, refined sense of design, and an unending passion for excellence, are just some of the reasons Patek Philippe remains revered by watch enthusiasts and collectors. Since its early history, Patek Philippe’s ladies watches have long been favoured by everyday wearers and notable buyers. Queen Victoria first purchased a blue enamel and diamond pendant watch with a gold case, No. 4719, at the London Universal Exhibition in 1851. In 1868, the company produced the first Swiss-made wristwatch for Countess Koscowicz of Hungary. The intricate gold bangle featured a hunter-style watch case that opened into a triptych, flanked with rose-cut diamonds and decorated with black enamel. With such a rich pedigree, the Twenty~4 builds on this exemplary past, making its modern mark in the long line of exceptional watches.

A Distinctive Rectangular Cuff Design

The original Twenty~4, launched in 1999, introduced the “manchette” or cuff design. The cambered rectangular case follows the natural contours of the wrist, and the smooth metallic bracelet is made with comfort in mind. Along the length of the case, two rows of diamonds light up the dial. The Art Deco-inspirations behind the design are unmissable, and make the collection instantly stand out.

In recent years, the Twenty~4 saw the addition of a new round silhouette to house its range of automatic watches. With the same articulated bracelet, the round dials are lit up by its diamond bezels and powered by Patek Philippe’s manufacture Caliber 324 S C. The self-winding movement is complete with a Gyromax® balance and Spiromax® balance spring in Sinivar®, ensuring its precision and reliability.

The Calatrava Cross – A Hallmark of Timeless Beauty

Adorning the crown of every Twenty~4 watch is the Calatrava Cross. This symbol has been associated with Patek Philippe for over 130 years, and has come to represent the values of the brand.

Originally the name of a Spanish order of knighthood founded in the late 12th century, the Calatrava blazonry stands for courage, chivalry, and independence of its knights. These are traits that Patek Philippe strives to embody in its watches. The centuries-old signature whose beauty has not been affected by passing trends makes this a most apt symbol of Patek Philippe’s philosophy.
