LVMH Watch Week 2024: ZENITH Reveals New Chronomaster Watches

LVMH Watch Week 2024 highlights

From a sporty chronograph in the first green ceramic bezel and integrated rubber strap to a new El Primero Triple Calendar, here is what ZENITH was up to during LVMH Watch Week 2024.

As the first automatic high-frequency chronograph caliber in the world that was launched in 1969, the El Primero is ZENITH’s legendary movement for many reasons. Almost 55 years later, it still continues to shine and with the recent announcements made during LVMH Watch Week 2024, it’s clear it’s as versatile today.

The new Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar, for example, has potentially been in the making since El Primero’s beginnings. The movement was initially designed to accommodate the triple calendar and moon phase functions; so much so, a series of 25 prototypes was produced in 1970 as a proof of concept. For the much beloved Chronomaster Sport, a new shade and integrated rubber strap has been adapted and introduced for a striking addition to the lineup.

Below, we break down the details of the new Chronomaster novelties announced by ZENITH during LVMH Watch Week 2024.

CHRONOMASTER ORIGINAL TRIPLE CALENDAR

Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar

There is much to be desired with the new Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar with its host of functions. The 1/10th of a second chronograph remains familiarly prominent but the complete calendar has been added in a way that makes for intuitive reading without cluttering the dial. The days of the week and months are displayed in symmetrically positioned windows above the chronograph counters, while the date window is positioned in the traditional El Primero position of 04:30. Moving on to the 6 o’clock position, one can spy the moonphase display placed with the chronograph’s 60-minute counter.

Featuring a vintage-inspired 38 mm steel case – based off the exact 1969 blueprint and proportions of the A386 – the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar has: a bezel-less construction, a raised and domed sapphire crystal, and a complete calendar with moonphase mechanism to the automatic high-frequency 1/10th of a second chronograph calibre. Powering the core of the watch is a new variant of the latest generation El Primero automatic high-frequency chronograph calibre. The Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar’s El Primero 3610 operates at a rate of 5 Hz (36’000 VpH) to deliver a true 1/10th of a second chronograph function. Yet, despite the additional complete calendar, its efficient transmission allows for an approximate 60-hour power reserve

There are two unique dial versions for the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar: A sportier silvery-white “panda” opaline dial with black counters and 1/10th of a second scale, and an opulent opaline slate-grey dial with silvery-white counters and scale that is directly inspired by the small series of El Primero triple calendar prototypes from 1970. Both are complemented with  rose gold-tone applied baton markers and hands, a warm contrast that brings out the polished rose gold moon set on a metallic blue sunray-patterned disk with five-pointed stars.

CHRONOMASTER SPORT

ZENITH Chronomaster Sport GREEN Ceramic

The award-winning Chronomaster Sport welcomes a new model to the family, sporting a chromatic striking green ceramic bezel and dial for the first time. The engraved 1/10th of a second bezel on top of the 41mm steel case with pump-style pushers is crafted in green ceramic, matching a dial finished in green lacquer while still featuring ZENITH’s signature tricolour counters in shades of grey and blue. The date wheel too has been colour-matched to the dial.

ZENITH Chronomaster Sport GREEN Rubber Strap

Two choices are then offered for the final touch of this green variant: a three-link stainless steel bracelet or ZENITH’s new rubber strap that’s developed specifically for the Chronomaster Sport. Crafted from soft yet durable FKM rubber, this marks the debut of an integrated rubber strap for the brand.
