Longines Celebrates 190 Years of Watchmaking
Without a doubt, Longines is a watchmaking brand with a strong tradition. This is the inexorable result of a long, continuous and rich history. Longines celebrates its 190th anniversary with new additions to its Record and Masters lines.
Based in Saint-Imier in Switzerland since 1832, Longines wields expertise steeped in tradition, elegance and performance. The history of Longines is marked by technical and aesthetic innovations that reflect the ambitions of the brand’s founders: to dare to be avant-garde, achieve excellence, and make innovation a continuous quest. And to celebrate this milestone, Longines launches four new watches reflecting on this long heritage.
The Record Heritage – First Chronograph in the Record Line
Longines reinvents itself again for its 190th anniversary. The Record Heritage is the first tachometer chronograph in the Record collection. This simple stainless steel 40mm has a polished and slightly bevelled bezel enclosing a domed sapphire glass with multiple layers of anti-reflective coating. Elegant golden Arabic numerals mark the even hours, with slender overlaid indexes for the odd hours. Set against a matt dial black, the markings on the dial are in a similar gold hue, giving the watch a decidedly vintage aesthetic.
Inside, the movement benefits from the latest innovations. Most notably, the exclusive Longines movement is driven by a silicon balance spring, making it anti-magnetic. This calibre is COSC chronometer-certified, a guarantee of its precision and reliability.
The New Master – Classic Elegance and Excellence Combined
As masters in the measurement of time over the years, Longines has ceaselessly striven to combine its quest for precision with an aesthetic standard that still underpins its identity today. The latest addition to the Master Collection combines tradition, elegance and performance, through meticulous workmanship.
The 40mm round case with classic lines encompasses the sandblasted silver dial with delicate engraved Arabic numerals. The blued steel hands highlight the dial’s refined purity. Inside, an exclusive calibre with a silicon balance-spring keeps the watch in perfect time. The painstaking craftsmanship of the movement can be admired through the transparent back, that features a commemorative engraving.
5-Year Warranty
Longines has played a pioneering role in several technological advances and continues to display an unwavering commitment to innovation. Its constant pursuit of excellence has, in turn, led it to equip all its automatic timepieces with state-of-the-art movements which, notably, include a silicon balance-spring. This material is not only light and corrosion-resistant but also remains unaffected by normal temperature variations and magnetic fields. Its unique properties improve the precision and longevity of the watch and allow Longines to provide these models with a 5-year warranty.
