Launch of the Freak Out in Malaysia

Not long after landing in Singapore, Patrick Pruniaux was on the move again. After landing in Malaysia, the (relatively) new CEO of Ulysse Nardin – in collaboration with The Hour Glass – kicked off the official launch of the  Ulysse Nardin Freak Out at the St Regis in Kuala Lumpur. Patrick and The Hour Glass were accompanied by 400 guests including Malaysian celebrities and personalities. In line with their refreshingly provocative #FREAKMEOUT campaign, the evening featured a range of freaky performances. The only thing that wasn’t freaky was the dinner. If a parallel were to be drawn between the dinner and Ulysse Nardin watches, the two could be united through their shared quality and attention to detail (freaky food just doesn’t sound as appealing).

Emceed by Sarah Lian and with performances by Kyrgyzstani dance group ADEM, it was an exceptionally memorable evening. The watches you say! Freak Out watches took centre stage, guests were free to interact with the full quartet of Freak Out watches.

One interesting takeaway from the launch of the Freak Out and Ulysse Nardin is general is the general perception of the manufacture. For a brand with 170 years of history under its belt, it’s fantastic to see Ulysse Nardin playing to its strengths and championing complicated watchmaking. In the past Ulysse Nardin made a name for itself through precision timekeeping instruments. With the emphasis being on precision. Assisting maritime explorers in their journey across the seas. Nowadays Ulysse Nardin has an added dimension. Ulysse Nardin and the Freak collection in particular are taking watch collectors on a different sort of journey. A journey into the world of complicated experimental watchmaking. Looking forward to where this freaky journey goes next! Click through to have a better look at the Freak Out.
