Patek Philippe starts a new chapter in the evolution of the legendary watch design that was launched with the Ref. 3700 Nautilus. The Ref. 5711 (launched in 2006 for the 30-year anniversary of the Nautilus and retired from the collection in 2021) was the most recent iteration. It is followed by this Ref. 5811/1G-001 that has grown slightly from 40 to 41 mm.
the new model features a blue dial with a black-gradient rim, applied hour markers and rounded baton-style hands, all in white gold with white luminescent coating. The date disk at 3 o’clock, highlighted by a white gold aperture frame, features the “40 years” font. The case is water-resistant to 120m, with a two-part construction – a nod to the original 1976 Nautilus.
The self-winding caliber 26-330 S C is visible through the sapphire-crystal case back. Equipped with a “stop second” device, it allows the time to be set with one-second accuracy. The white gold bracelet is equipped with a patented Patek Philippe fold-over clasp, and a new lockable adjustment system, ensuring greater comfort. The distinctive construction of the Nautilus is enhanced by the subtle interplay of hand-crafted satin and polished finishes on the bezel, case and bracelet requiring 55 operations for each watch.
