To celebrate the 55th anniversary of the 44GS, Grand Seiko launches a new Hi-Beat 36000 GMT watch with a titanium case. An Anniversary Limited Edition to discover in exclusivity at Watches of Switzerland NEX boutique on January 1st 2022 before its roll-out throughout the island a few days later.

A new Hi-Beat 36000 GMT imbued with the 1967 44GS heritage

Emblematic of the ‘Grand Seiko Style’, the 1967 44GS is the watch that first gave Grand Seiko its distinctive look and inspires every new creation to this day. Its international recognition was enhanced when the 44GS Hi-Beat 36000 GMT won an award at the 2014 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

A hi-beat GMT caliber housed in a high-intensity titanium case

The new Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 36000 GMT 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition embodies the Grand Seiko Style, this time paired with a high-intensity titanium case and bracelet, a material that is 30% lighter than steel and highly resistant to both scratches and corrosion. To enhance the bright aspect of titanium, Grand Seiko craftsmen have polished the case with the in-house distinctive Zaratsu polishing technique, giving the distortion-free surfaces that are a defining character of the Grand Seiko Style.

Equipped with the Hi-beat 9S86 calibre, the new Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 36000 GMT 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition offers 55 hours of power reserve and an accuracy rate of +5 to -3 seconds a day. The GMT hand and the 24-hour inner bezel ring allow the time in a second time zone to be read with ease and the hour hand can be adjusted independently without compromising the precision of the watch.

Precision and clarity for a dial in pure Grand Seiko Style

The new Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 36000 GMT 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition boasts a white dial with soft sheen contrasting with the blue GS and GMT letters as well the tempered blue GMT hand. The hour, minute and GMT hands carry Lumibrite and the dual-curved sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface.

A titanium oscillating weight with Grand Seiko lion emblem

The caseback is not left out on the new Hi-Beat 36000 GMT Titanium watch.
Its see-through case back enhances a distinctive oscillating weight featuring the Grand Seiko lion emblem. The gold tone of the oscillating weight is achieved through an anodic oxidation process in which the titanium is subjected to electrolysis so as to generate an oxide film. The colour is determine according to the light refraction index by adjusting the thickness of the oxide.
