BVLGARI EXPLORES TITANIUM AT GENEVA WATCH DAYS 2026

For Geneva Watch Days 2026, Bvlgari places titanium at the centre of a collection of watches that explore the material in markedly different ways. Since 2014, titanium has become an increasingly important part of the Maison’s watchmaking vocabulary, its combination of lightness, strength, and versatility allowing Bvlgari to reconsider both proportions and the experience of a watch on the wrist. This year, that thinking extends across the Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter, the Octo Finissimo Dazzle, and two Bvlgari Titanio models, each approaching the same material through a different mechanical or visual idea.

The Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter marks the first occasion Bvlgari has worked with an independent watchmaker on the Octo Finissimo collection. More significantly, Halter’s involvement reaches into the movement itself, using the Octo Finissimo architecture as the foundation for a watch jointly conceived with Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Product Creation Executive Director at Bvlgari. The resulting design brings Halter’s retro-futurist vocabulary into the disciplined geometry of the Octo Finissimo, drawing on references that range from Jules Verne to precision engineering.

Halter’s contribution is clearest across the dial. Four opaline rhodium-plated displays occupy the front of the watch, separating the hours and minutes, GMT indication, date, and day/night display. His characteristically shaped blue hands are joined by a red arrow seconds hand, while his signature is engraved on the platinum micro-rotor visible through the caseback. The familiar Octo Finissimo case provides the framework around these individual displays, retaining its angular construction while accommodating a considerably more complex arrangement than the collection’s typically restrained dial architecture.

The watch measures 40.5 mm across and 9.70 mm thick, housing the automatic BVF 200 calibre. Running at 3 Hz, the movement uses a micro-rotor and provides a 60-hour power reserve, alongside hours, minutes, small seconds, GMT, date, and day/night functions. The movement is finished with vertical Côtes de Genève, brushing, and perlage. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres.

Two interpretations have been developed. The first uses a sandblasted titanium case and matching integrated bracelet, with satin-polished porthole bezels providing contrast around the four displays. The second shifts the construction into rose gold, combining a sandblasted base with vertically brushed upper surfaces, satin-polished bezels, and a brown alligator strap. Both retain the same arrangement of opaline displays, blue hands, red seconds hand, and BVF 200 movement, allowing the difference in case material to alter the character of an otherwise shared mechanical composition.

The Octo Finissimo Dazzle takes titanium in another direction, treating the case, dial, and bracelet as a continuous graphic surface. Its pattern comes from automotive camouflage, where fragmented graphics are applied to development vehicles to make their proportions and bodywork more difficult to read during testing. Bvlgari has translated the same principle onto the Octo Finissimo, using a repeated geometric motif to obscure the transitions between the watch’s angles and planes.

The effect is created through laser engraving carried out by Bvlgari. Rather than placing decoration on a single component, the pattern extends across the sandblasted titanium case, opaline titanium dial, and integrated bracelet. The bezel remains untreated, preserving a clear outline around the dial while much of the surrounding architecture recedes into the black-and-grey geometry. According to Bvlgari, laser engraving provides the precision and regularity required to maintain the motif across these different surfaces.

Beneath the pattern remains an established Octo Finissimo mechanical proposition. The 40 mm case houses the automatic BVL 138 calibre, wound by a micro-rotor. It operates at 3Hz and provides a 60-hour power reserve, displaying hours, minutes, and small seconds. The movement is decorated by hand with Côtes de Genève, chamfering, and perlage.

The Bvlgari Titanio GMT and Bvlgari Titanio Chronograph bring titanium into a separate branch of the Maison’s watch design. Their lineage stretches back to Bvlgari Roma in 1975, renamed Bvlgari Bvlgari two years later, and later to Bvlgari Aluminium, introduced in 1998 with an unconventional combination of aluminium and rubber. The new Titanio models retain the interplay between metal and rubber while introducing grade 5 titanium, whose grey surface gives the familiar architecture a different visual and physical character.

The Bvlgari Titanio GMT is housed in a 40 mm sandblasted titanium case with a black rubber bezel. Its black dial combines matt and gloss finishes with white indices, grey hands filled with Super-LumiNova, and a 24-hour display incorporating a day/night indication. Inside is the automatic B192 calibre, which provides a 50-hour power reserve and drives the hours, minutes, central seconds, GMT, and date functions. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres.

At 41 mm, the Bvlgari Titanio Chronograph expands the same material language around a chronograph display. The black dial incorporates circular counters, white indices, a tachymeter scale, and grey hands, while the sandblasted titanium case is paired with a black rubber bezel and matching strap. Its B381 automatic chronograph calibre runs at 4 Hz, carries a 42-hour power reserve, and incorporates hours, minutes, central seconds, chronograph, and date functions. It, too, is water-resistant to 100 metres.

Across its Geneva Watch Days 2026 presentation, Bvlgari uses titanium as more than a common case material. In the Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter, it provides the structure for an unusually dense arrangement of displays and functions. On the Octo Finissimo Dazzle, its surface becomes part of the design itself, carrying an engraved pattern intended to interfere with the perception of the case. The Bvlgari Titanio GMT and Chronograph apply the material to an established combination of metal and rubber, bringing a different weight, texture, and appearance to the collection. Together, the watches demonstrate how widely a single material can be interpreted when its role is considered from the beginning of the design process.
