BREGUET TRADITION: 5 NEW EXPRESSIONS OF FORM AND FUNCTION

Latest Releases
02 Apr 2026 · 10 min read

Within Breguet’s contemporary collections, the Tradition remains the clearest expression of the Maison’s origins. It does not begin with a dial, but with the movement itself; reversed, revealed, and arranged across the front with deliberate symmetry. This approach traces directly to the early creations of Abraham-Louis Breguet, where clarity of construction defined both function and form.

In the present day, that philosophy continues: the barrel, bridges, wheels, and regulating organ are not concealed but composed into a mechanical landscape. For 2026, Breguet refines this language through a series of new introductions. While presented across seven executions, these correspond to five distinct references, with variations in material and display rather than entirely separate constructions.

Understanding the New Additions

The latest chapter of the Tradition collection centres on five references: the Seconde Rétrograde 7037, Seconde Rétrograde 7038, Seconde Rétrograde 7097, GMT 7067, and the earlier-introduced Seconde Rétrograde 7035 as a point of continuity.

Several of these appear in multiple executions. The 7037 is offered in two metals, while the 7067 is presented with two numeral styles. These should be understood as parallel expressions of the same reference; variations in tone and character, rather than fundamentally different watches.

In platinum, the 7037 adopts a darker palette, where monochrome tones emphasise the mechanics

The return of the 7037 marks a significant moment for the collection. Presented in a more compact 38 mm case, it revisits the automatic architecture of the Tradition line with renewed clarity.

Two executions define this reference. In white gold, the watch pairs a blue-toned movement with a grand feu enamel dial in white that pairs well with its Arabic numerals, creating a vivid contrast between display and mechanism. In platinum, the palette shifts towards monochrome, with a darker movement and a black enamel dial that lends the watch a more restrained presence.

In both cases, the retrograde seconds indication introduces a measured sense of motion, its sweeping arc providing a counterpoint to the stillness of the surrounding components.

The 7038 offers a more expressive interpretation with an 18K white gold case, an aventurine dial, and diamond-set bezel

The 7038 offers a more nuanced interpretation of the same architecture. Its proportions are more compact, yet the visual impact is heightened through material and surface. A dial in aventurine glass introduces depth and texture, while the case is set with diamonds that trace the curvature of the bezel.

Beneath this, the movement adopts a darker treatment, allowing the polished elements to stand out with greater clarity. A distinctive oscillating weight further sets this reference apart, reinforcing the sense that while the architecture is shared, the execution is carefully considered.

The 7097 extends the automatic Tradition format into a larger, more expansive canvas. Here, the architecture is given greater space, allowing each component to be read with increased clarity. In its latest execution, the watch combines an 18K rose gold case with a charcoal-toned movement and a white enamel dial.

The retrograde seconds display is more clearly delineated, set apart as a distinct element within the composition. The result is a watch that feels both structured and dynamic, where the interplay between materials enhances the legibility of the mechanics.

Tradition GMT 7067

The Tradition GMT 7067 introduces dual time with clarity, set against a green enamel dial and darkened movement

The introduction of a second time zone within the Tradition framework is handled with notable restraint. The 7067 integrates this additional function without disrupting the balance of the display. Local time is shown on the primary off-centred dial while a secondary display indicates home time, complemented by a day-and-night indicator. A power reserve display completes the composition, ensuring that functionality is presented with clarity.

Two executions are offered for the Tradition GMT 7067. Both share the same construction, yet differ in their numeral style; one with Arabic numerals, the other with Eastern Arabic numerals. This distinction introduces a subtle shift in character, while preserving the integrity of the overall design.

Although introduced earlier, the 7035 provides important context for the current direction of the collection. Its compact proportions, refined finishing and use of enamel signal a broader shift towards a more contemporary expression of Tradition.

In many ways, it serves as a bridge, connecting earlier interpretations of the collection with the more recent emphasis on colour, texture, and contrast.

A Measured Evolution

Across these references, a consistent pattern emerges. The underlying architecture remains unchanged: exposed mechanics, off-centred dial, and a carefully balanced arrangement of components. These are not radical departures, but deliberate refinements; each one contributing to a broader, more contemporary reading of the Tradition collection.

The strength of the Tradition lies in its discipline. It evolves through careful adjustment: material, proportion and finish applied to a stable foundation. In these latest expressions, Breguet demonstrates that continuity need not be static. The collection remains anchored in its origins, yet it moves forward with quiet confidence, allowing its mechanics, and the clarity with which they are presented, to speak for themselves.
