5 Iconic Hublot Collaborations
One of Hublot’s most significant forces is its ability to reach far beyond the confines of traditional watchmaking, drawing inspiration from the vastly different worlds of its partners and ambassadors. Here are five examples of watches that perfectly embody this spirit of collaboration.
Ferrari (MP-05 LaFerrari)
A fitting watch for Ferrari’s eponymous LaFerrari supercar, the Hublot MP-05 is what could be called an engine for the wrist. Featuring an unprecedented construction entirely conceived and manufactured within Hublot’s manufacture walls, the MP-05 is the single greatest horological homage to Ferrari.
FIFA (Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde)
Taking its love of football to the next level, Hublot produced what could be considered the most football-oriented mechanical watch ever made to date, for the occasion of the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil to which Hublot was the Official Timekeeper. The Unico Bi-Retrograde reinterprets the chronograph in a way that puts the minutes and seconds in center-stage with a retrograde mechanism that can take into account additional time and halves of matches.
Italia Independent
What do you get when you cross Lapo Elkann’s inimitable flair with Hublot’s avant-garde and innovative know-how? In collaboration with the design company owned by the heir to the Fiat industrial fortune, Italia Independent gave the Hublot Big Bang Unico a stylish makeover, incorporating blue or anthracite Texalium coated carbon fiber and a strap made of studded denim, recalling high-end and bespoke men’s shoes.
Depeche Mode (Big Bang Depeche Mode)
Rock’n’Roll for a good cause: Depeche Mode and Hublot came together to create a take on the iconic skeleton dial Aero Bang chronograph, to benefit the non-profit “charity: water” that brings safe drinking water to the developing world. The result is a Big Bang that perfectly captures the dark, moody and edgy atmosphere that has made Depeche Mode a true pioneer in modern music.
Arturo Fuente
All about appreciating the finer things in life, Hublot and revered cigar maker Arturo Fuente came together to produce a most epicurean series of watches. Hublot even uses the same tobacco leaves for the dial as Fuente’s “ForbiddenX” cigars, through a unique process that preserves the tobacco’s color and appearance from external heat and ultra-violet light exposure.
The Hour Glass is the exclusive retailer of Hublot in South East Asia.
