The Latest Hublot Big Bang Unico Full Magic Gold Does Not Compromise

The new Big Bang Unico Full Magic Gold celebrates the fusion of two pillars of the Hublot universe: the Big Bang Unico, and the manufacture’s Magic Gold alloy.

In a surprise move from the Nyon manufacture, Hublot makes no compromises and returns to basics with this latest release. The new Hublot Big Bang Unico Full Magic Gold brings together two of the manufacture’s pillars – Big Bang and Magic Gold – in a spirit that is true to Hublot’s very beginnings.

Starting with the powerfully modern and disruptive 44mm case, with its instantly recognizable sandwich construction, large pushers, and a round bezel with six unaligned functional screws, it retains all the Big Bang signatures. Elevating this into greater brilliance is the Magic Gold alloy on both the case and bezel. Exclusive to Hublot, Magic Gold fuses 24-carat gold with the most high-tech mastery of ceramic, by injecting gold into cold-pressed boron carbide components at very high pressure. This patented material is unalterable and scratchproof, with a unique lustre.

The hues of the Magic Gold echo in the indices, counters, and hands, that are satin-finished and microblasted 3N gold. In true Hublot style, the pushers, guards and screws are in titanium. The watch is paired with a rubber strap in the deepest black, an ode to the first Hublot watches that was the first to ever fuse gold with rubber.

Inside, the new UNICO 2 manufacture movement HUB 1280 drives the watch. Thinner and more precise than ever, it boasts a gentler and quieter winding system. The subject of several patent applications, it has a brand-new clutch mechanism meaning the chronograph does not jump at the start and no longer quivers. It offers better resistance to shocks and has a long power reserve of 72 hours. At the same time, it retains all the aesthetic characteristics that are so loved by collectors – a highly technical and illustrative open-worked design, and the signature “H” for Hublot.
