Presenting: Louis Erard La Petite Seconde Metropolis x The Horophile

No stranger to collaborations, Louis Erard teams up with The Horophile and presents a trilogy of New York Art Deco inspired set of La Petite Seconde watches.

In recent years, Louis Erard has partnered with a range of industry players from watchmakers to designers and presented a creative range of collaboration watches. The latest collaboration celebrates a 15-year long friendship with watch influencer Amr Sindi, better known as @thehorophile, and Manuel Emch, director of Louis Erard.

An Art Deco Touch

Conceived as a “collection within the collection”, the collaboration sees the introduction of three different looks built on the base of Louis Erard’s La Petite Seconde series. The new Metropolis, with a classic 39mm steel case and LE signature crown, shows no other branding when worn.

Bridging the Roaring 20s of the last century with our own 20s of this current age, the result is a new style – “neo-deco”, combining Art Deco style with a contemporary 21st Century spirit. Starting with the numerals, which are etched out in double lines, giving an architectural, open-worked feel. The small seconds are simply marked with a single dot, for a minimalist feel. The “Empire” baton-style hands are so named as an ode to New York’s Empire State Building, with painstaking attention paid to its proportions and skeletonization to ensure a faithful reinterpretation in this horological motif. Finally, the central disc is worked in concentric circular gadrooned grooves, giving a three-dimensional depth that changes with the light.

Three…Plus One

The design comes in three variations: slate with 5N red gilded hands and numerals, salmon with anthracite and black hands and numerals, and tobacco brown with 5N red gilded hands and numerals. The harmony continues with the calf-grained leather strap: cool brown on the slate version, black on the salmon, chocolate on the brown. This watch is produced in 178 pieces, 3 times 59 pieces plus a unique model for The Horophile.

Inside, the watch is powered by the automatic Sellita SW261-1 calibre élaboré grade movement, featuring a special openworked oscillating weight with black lacquered Louis Erard symbol. The watch beats at 4Hz and boasts 38 hours of power reserve.
