Rolex Novelties from Watches and Wonders 2022

The latest releases from Rolex, presented at Watches and Wonders 2022, showcases the perpetual quest for excellence on the aesthetics and technologies of its emblematic timepieces.

Oyster Perpetual Air-King

Oyster Perpetual Air-King
With its 40 mm case in Oystersteel, solid-link Oyster bracelet, and distinctive black dial, the Oyster Perpetual Air-King perpetuates the aeronautical heritage of the original Rolex Oyster

Inspired by aircraft instruments, the new Oyster Perpetual Air-King now sports a completely redesigned case with a crown guard and straight sides like the majority of Professional category models. The distinctive black dial of the Air-King has also been refreshed and is perfectly balanced thanks to the addition of a ‘0’ before the ‘5’ on the minutes scale. Each five-minute interval is, therefore, now marked by two digits.

The new-generation Air-King is equipped with the in-house calibre 3230, a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. This self-winding movement offers outstanding performance in terms of precision, convenience, and reliability. With a power reserve of 70 hours, it is resistant to shocks and magnetic fields, and is covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification. The new-generation Air-King comes in a 40mm waterproof Oyster case, solid-link Oyster bracelet, with the Oysterlock folding clasp that prevents accidental opening, and the Rolex exclusive Easylink comfort extension link that offers 5mm of easy length adjustment.

Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II

A novel, unexpected surprise, the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II unveiled at Watches and Wonders this year, features the crown and crown guard on the left side of the watch case. This watch also features a two-colour monobloc Cerachrom bezel insert in green and black ceramic – a colour pairing never before seen on the model. Reading time remains straightforward for the second time zone with a unique and instantly recognisable design of the bidirectional rotatable bezel, a 24-hour graduated Cerachrom insert and a triangle-tipped 24-hour hand. Providing long-lasting luminescence, the GMT-Master II benefits from an optimised Chromalight display while the crystal is fitted with a Cyclops lens and has an anti-reflective coating, ensuring legibility in all conditions.

With the crown, crown guard, date aperture and Cyclops lens moved to the left side of the watch case, this required changing the precision testing process for some of the final controls carried out as part of the Superlative Chronometer certification.  The new GMT-Master II is available with an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet and is equipped with calibre 3285, a self-winding movement at the forefront of watchmaking technology, with a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

The new version, which, like the original model, includes a bidirectional rotatable bezel and a Cerachrom insert with a raised graduation as well as the innovative Oysterflex bracelet, benefits from an optimized Chromalight display that guarantees a longer-lasting intense glow.

The new version of the Yacht-Master 42 is equipped with calibre 3235, a movement at the forefront of watchmaking technology, enabling it to display the hours, minutes, seconds and date.

Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 carries the Superlative Chronometer certification, which ensures excellent performance on the wrist.

Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31

Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31
This Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31 in Oystersteel and white gold features an azzurro-blue floral-motif, diamond-set dial and an Oyster bracelet

With its timeless aesthetics, functions and rich history, the Oyster Perpetual Datejust is a watchmaking icon and one of the brand’s most recognizable watches. This year, Rolex presents three new versions of the Datejust 31 with striking floral-motif dials. The design is exemplary of the brand’s dial artistry and comprises 24 flowers that stand out distinctly from one another thanks to their finishes – either sunray, matt or grained. Each of the flowers is lit from within by a diamond set into the centre.
