The Hour Glass and Urwerk unveil the World-Premiere of the UR-105M
Swiss independent avant-garde watchmaking brand, URWERK and its exclusive watch retailer, The Hour Glass unveiled the world-premiere of the UR-105M to distinguished customers on the 19th and 20th May 2014. The invited guests were amongst the first to view the UR-105M collection, outside the industry watch fair, Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) held earlier in January 2014. The event marked another highlight, as it has been 5 years since the URWERK co-founders, Mr Felix Baumgartner (Master Watchmaker) and Mr Martin Frei (Chief Designer), have made an official visit together to Singapore.
The UR-105M was presented alongside its iconic predecessors, chronicling the evolution of URWERK horological art for close to 2 decades. The timepieces were curated on 4 display showcases stylized with rustic shrubs and garden accents, a delightful visual contrast to the futuristic and sculptural form of URWERK timepieces. Guests were able to view up-close the UR-105M and the iconic models in great detail during the reception while sipping Prosecco and enjoying canapés.
Opening up the evening was a speech by the co-founders, Felix and Martin, first thanking the guests, followed by a concise presentation of the UR-105M’s watchmaking highlights and inspiration. The duo’s passion for crafting haute horlogerie was perpetuated in Felix’s heartfelt speech. The spirit of the URWERK fraternity was also palpable, as Felix and Martin took time to chat with guests over the course of dinner. Adding an element of alchemy to the evening, a skilful magician roved from cluster to cluster, pulling out a variety of adroit tricks with rousing laughter and cheers from guests.
Igniting the spark of passion for wildly unique and conceptual watchmaking, Felix and Martin successfully evoke and bring to fore the intrinsic significance of URWERK horological art – borne out of the duo’s shared philosophy of time and crafted by human hands. The consecutive evenings of merriment truly celebrate the URWERK’s journey of bold, authentic watchmaking: spearheaded by 2 talented individuals who are proud to be different and daring to take the path less travelled, with the singular dream to create horological art with a futuristic vision.
