Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin team up in a spectacular collaboration

Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin are combining their engineering prowess and peerless artistry in a collaboration that is sure to thrill. The Swiss watchmaker is now the Official Watch Partner of Aston Martin and will be using its timekeeping expertise alongside the robust machines made by the luxury British automotive manufacturer.

While motorsport celebrates the furious race against the clock, as championed by the elite Aston Martin F1 team, haute horology embraces and explores the eternal unfolding of time. Despite their differences, both fields are united in their emphasis on precision, craftsmanship and avant-garde technical solutions.

Among the oldest names in watchmaking, Girard-Perregaux has dedicated over a century to perfecting the varied expressions of its instruments. Its fluency in the language of timepieces can be seen in its imaginative repertoire, from the infinitely elegant Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges of 1867 that made the visible the typically concealed namesake components to the sporty Laureato collection. This spirit of ingenuity and ambitious attitude inspired its slogan, ‘Shaping the now for those in the know.’

Synonymous with these values is the house of Aston Martin, a name of equal nobility that can trace its origins to 1913, London. Although its sport of choice leverages on the latest technologies to produce lean, mean, nifty machines, its cars boast an enviable timelessness. An exemplar of this is the legendary DBR1 (1956), whose graceful lines and vigorous performance is the benchmark of competitive race-cars and precursor for some of the marque’s instantly-recognised heritage DB models.

Both brands bring their signature expertise and aesthetics in a collaboration that honours the long-time symbiosis between timekeeping and motor-racing. Fans will see Girard-Perregaux’s branding on the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team cars in Bahrain when the 2021 F1 season kicks off while collectors should look out for a series of limited-edition timepieces, with the first to be revealed later this year.

“2021 is an important year for both Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin. We are celebrating an astonishing 230 years of watchmaking, whilst Aston Martin celebrates its return to Formula One as a works team for the first time in over 60 years. We have much to celebrate so uniting our worlds to create something special is the perfect way to acknowledge and appreciate these milestones.”
