HUBLOT REIMAGINES TIME WITH THE CLASSIC FUSION TITANIUM RETROVERSE SPECIAL EDITIONS

In collaboration with The Hour Glass, Hublot presents the Classic Fusion Titanium Retroverse Special Editions, a collection that invites a reconsideration of how we perceive the passage of time. This isn't the first collaborative creation between Hublot and The Hour Glass; the two have already worked together numerous times, resulting in the release of various Classic Fusion and Spirit of Big Bang special collections.

Offered in three distinctive shades of blue, green, and grey, the Classic Fusion Titanium Retroverse Special Editions are grounded in the idea that objects can evolve alongside their wearer, reflecting personal journeys rather than remaining unchanged. This concept is central to the collaboration, emphasising character and individuality from the outset.

The Classic Fusion Titanium Retroverse is a study in character and the passage of time. The choice of brushed blackened aged titanium ensures that no two watches feel exactly the same; the material reflects a rugged uniqueness that resonates with a life of experience. This aesthetic narrative is further deepened by the unclockwise movement—a mechanical reversal that challenges our traditional perception of time and serves as a sophisticated technical detail for the discerning collector.

The defining presence of the Retroverse begins with its 42 mm case, crafted from brushed blackened aged titanium. This surface treatment is intentionally irregular, giving each watch a distinctive appearance that suggests a sense of history from the moment it is worn. Rather than presenting a pristine finish, the material speaks to endurance and individuality, echoing the idea that character is built over time.

Measuring 10.4 mm in thickness, the case maintains a balanced profile on the wrist while incorporating Hublot’s signature six H-shaped polished titanium screws. These elements, together with the sapphire crystal treated with an anti-reflective coating, ensure both visual clarity and a cohesive structural identity. The result is a design that feels considered in every detail, where technical execution supports the broader narrative.

Unconventional Approach to Timekeeping

At the core of the Retroverse lies a movement that challenges long-held expectations. The HUB1105 self-winding calibre has been specially re-engineered to operate in an anticlockwise direction, introducing a subtle yet profound shift in how time is read, displayed, and experienced.

This reversal is not simply a mechanical curiosity. It encourages a moment of pause, prompting the wearer to reconsider the familiar rhythm of timekeeping. Comprising 63 components and 21 jewels, the movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a 48-hour power reserve, combining reliability with a distinctive conceptual approach.

Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot, highlights the strength of the partnership with The Hour Glass, describing a shared ambition to push boundaries and engage a highly knowledgeable audience. The Retroverse stands as a continuation of this dialogue, where technical innovation and creative thinking come together in equal measure.

The visual identity of each model is anchored by a grained gradient dial, available in blue, green or grey. These tones shift subtly under changing light, adding depth and nuance to the overall composition. Rhodium-plated polished hands provide a crisp contrast, ensuring legibility while complementing the dial’s textured surface.

Attention to detail extends to the straps, with each watch accompanied by both an aged calf leather strap and an additional aged alligator strap. Each is colour-matched to the dial, reinforcing a sense of harmony across the design. The straps are secured by a brushed blackened aged stainless steel and black-plated deployant clasp, completing the look with a consistent and considered finish.

A Study in Perspective

The Classic Fusion Titanium Retroverse Special Editions present a thoughtful departure from convention. By reversing the direction of movement and embracing materials that carry an inherent sense of variation, the collection encourages a more reflective relationship with time.

Rather than focusing solely on precision, it places emphasis on experience, individuality and the subtle marks of a life lived. In doing so, Hublot and The Hour Glass offer an approach that feels both introspective and forward-thinking, inviting wearers to engage with time in a way that is at once personal and profound.
