Presenting “Collecting Rexhep Rexhepi” by The Hour Glass

“Sometimes it happens in watchmaking where there’s something that is so special, that you just have to take a leap of faith.” – Rahul.

From Singapore to Sydney and hailing from different backgrounds, four collectors share their experiences of collecting Rexhep Rexhepi watches. Each have their own reasons for collecting artisanal independent watches, and what they perceive as the special appeal of such timekeepers.

“Collecting artisanal independent watches is niche for a reason – because they are how the watchmakers want to express themselves.” – Eric.

Commissioned by The Hour Glass, this short film captures the spirit and passion of avid watch collectors towards artisanal watchmaking. Told from their own perspectives, the film profiles the journeys of collectors and how they discovered Rexhep Rexhepi, and why his watches have a special place in their collection.

“What makes independent watchmaking so appealing is, it’s about the people.” – Firmin.

The Hour Glass’ fundamental mission as a specialist watch retailer is to advance watch culture by celebrating the patrimony and tradition of the watchmaking arts. As an organisation that has devoted its entirety to this industry, we feel it is only appropriate to share the perspectives of passionate enthusiasts and collectors, who are key to keeping watch culture alive for current and future generations.

“This is when you need to have the faith, and the trust in the watchmaker, that he has the ability to convey his design concept…to make something with his hands, and finally present it as a product to you.” – Sean.

From a young age, there was only one thing Rexhep Rexhepi wanted to do: make watches. By the time Rexhep Rexhepi founded his atelier, Akrivia, in 2012, he was already a watchmaker with a decade of experience. With the establishment of his own brand and atelier, Rexhep Rexhepi fulfills his dream of developing and building his own watches, with distinct design aesthetics that reflects his own contemporary style of classical watchmaking.
