Keeper of Time
The Hour Glass is proud to be an Executive Producer on Keeper of Time. The first feature documentary by Michael Culyba explores the world of mechanical watchmaking through the stories of four of the best independent watchmakers in the world: Francois-Paul Journe, Philippe Dufour, Dr Roger W. Smith, and Maxmilian Büsser.
A Project Backed by Enthusiasts
A seasoned documentary editor based in New York, Keeper of Time marks Michael Culyba’s directorial debut. This passion project was funded through Kickstarter, raising $115,000 in seven weeks.
“Keeper of Time is my first feature film, and I went into the process knowing I wanted to produce it independently – everything from conception, fundraising, production, and editing to the release and exhibition – to maintain creative control. In this approach, the independent watchmakers in the film were a huge inspiration for me, and every time I encountered a hurdle, I thought of Roger Smith making a watch completely from scratch over the course of five years just to get an apprenticeship with George Daniels. ” Michael Culyba, Director and Producer.
Simultaneous Global Release
Taking an unconventional yet appropriate approach for the current times, anyone interested can watch the film in the comfort of their own homes. The world premiere on 28th April at the SVA Theatre in New York will include a Q&A session. Tickets are now available for the world premiere live stream on 28th April, as well as scheduled replays of the film and the Q&A session on 28th and 29th April on the website keeperoftimemovie.com.
