Ulysse Nardin Goes Rainbow with the Blast Tourbillon and Lady Diver
Plunging into the polychromatic world of the neon rainbow setting, Ulysse Nardin presents two new glamorous watches: the Blast Tourbillon Rainbow, and the Lady Diver Rainbow.
Inspired by the scintillating hues of silicium, the bezels of the latest models are adorned with colourful gemstones that sparkle in sunlight for a “rainbow’ effect. Let’s take a look at the Ulysse Nardin novelties from Geneva Watch Days 2022.
Blast Tourbillon Rainbow
Ulysse Nardin launches a new rainbow gem-set iteration of Blast. This latest addition retains the key design DNA of the first Blast Tourbillon series, released at Geneva Watch Days in 2020. The skeletonised design with the double “X” cleverly frames the platinum microrotor at 12 o’clock and the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock. Powering the watch is the UN-172 caliber movement with silicium escape wheel, anchor, and balance spring.
50 rubies and sapphire baguette gemstones adorn the bezel and indexes of the Blast Rainbow, set against the all-black DLC titanium case with a ceramic polished and sandblasted upper case. The watch retains the tessellated lugs and alternating surfaces that evoke the silhouette of stealth fighter jets.
The Blast Tourbillon is a limited edition of 50 pieces. The watch has a power reserve of up to 72 hours and is water resistant to 50 metres. It comes on a waterproof velvet rubber strap or a black alligator strap, with a black DLC titanium and black ceramic self-deploying buckle.
Lady Diver Rainbow
The latest generation of the Lady Diver comes with dazzling decorative touches. Forty colourful stones (ruby, aquamarine, topaz, tsavorite and sapphire) are set on the concave unidirectional bezel. Eleven diamonds serve as indexes, bringing a touch of elegance and additional scintillation. Inside is the UN-816 automatic movement with Silicium technology, keeping track of the hours, minutes, seconds, and date.
Measuring at 39mm and water resistant to 300 metres, this utilitarian timekeeper comes in black or white with a matching structured rubber strap. Both editions are limited to 300 pieces each.
Silicium Revolution
In 2001, Ulysse Nardin was the first brand to introduce the first watch with silicium escapement components in the first Freak. Ever since, silicium parts have been incorporated into several of its movements.
Totally non-magnetic, silicium is light and elastic without ever deforming. With a high resistance to corrosion and extreme durability, it is also much less sensitive to thermal variations with good stability, and requires no lubrication.
