The World’s First Wristwatch With A Co-Axial Escapement, At The London Science Museum (And It’s A Patek)
Horology enthusiasts will undoubtedly revel at the range on display at the Clockmaker’s Museum in London. Amongst a large collection of pocket watches by Breguet, a marine chronometer by Thomas Mudge (with its extremely complex constant force escapement), Jack Forrester, the Dink’s resident watch geek, comes across the very first wristwatch to ever house a co-axial escapement. The watch is none other than a Patek Philippe Nautilus converted in 1981 by the late Dr George Daniels.
