connect with the hour glass
A space capsule has decended on the horological sphere – The Hour Glass presents the inauguration of the aptly named, Spacecraft by RJ- Romain Jerome, one of the avant-garde masterpieces by the Swiss maker.
The spacecraft will forge new frontiers for both The Hour Glass and RJ-Romain Jerome, a partnership that is more spontaneous than incidental, having borne similar outlooks in the arts and architecture. The latest legend, Spacecraft embodies the swiss watchmaking tradition and craftsmanship with aesthetic ambition that foreshadows the direction of RJ-Romain Jerome.
The Spacecraft was conceptualised by Manuel Emch, CEO of RJ- Romain Jerome together with two illuminaries in the watch industry – Eric Giroud and Jean-Marc Wiederrecht.
Right from the first sketches, Manuel Emch and Eric Giroud imagined a very different type of product, combining retro-futuristic aesthetics and horological complexity. “The design evolved in step with our discussions and our numerous exchanges. That is what makes it such a singular object”, explains Eric Giroud.
The pure lines and the apparent simplicity of the Spacecraft belie a particularly complex movement – which is where the third mastermind behind the project comes into the picture: Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, who is renowned for his virtuosity in the watch world.
Manuel Emch sums it up in these terms: “The concept we have created with this collection reflects a new approach for the brand, meaning facilitating access to innovative, contemporary and offbeat watchmaking.”
Exclusively available at The Hour Glass thematic boutiques, L’Atelier and More Passsion, the Spacecraft is a limited edition of 99-pieces, retailing at $32,600.
