First Ever Encounter – Hublot And Football
“Hublot! A different way to progress,” says those who know this unique Swiss watch company and that is exactly what Hublot is best known for. The first ever luxury brand in 2006 to plunge its foot into the world of football. A daring move yet a natural fusion, a commitment ever so strong which Hublot has maintained its solid status as the veritable game master following on for 10 years till today.
But wait, the question is, when and how did the synergy between Hublot and Football came about?
Once upon a time, Hublot and football, it all began in 2006 when Michel Pont, Switzerland’s assistant coach came to see Hublot to talk about a partnership with the ‘Nati’ (Swiss National Football team). His first words were: “I don’t understand why no watchmaker is partnering with the Swiss team.” This question immediately found an answer with Hublot. It was definitely a natural move, a rare opportunity not to be missed for Hublot, one of the jewels in the Swiss Industrial crown to support its own nation Football Team. The partnership between Hublot and the Swiss Football Association forged a link between Switzerland and prestige watchmaking, representing it throughout the world. That being said, the 60 members of the Swiss team all had a Big Bang ASF limited edition on their wrists when they flew off to the World Cup in Germany.

After the launch of its now iconic Big Bang in 2005, the brand developed an exclusive sporty watch in its Big Bang collection for this occasion with a futuristic vision of timekeeping.
A steel case and bezel, a white dial with the white-on-red logo of the Swiss Football Association at 09:00, a large red second hand, a disk lug and lateral insert in black resin with the Swiss flag on the side at 09:00, a black natural rubber strap, an automatic movement with an exclusive hand-engraved logo of the ASF/SFV in red and white enamel. This exclusive series in steel came in a limited edition series of 300 watches.
This Football partnership changed Hublot’s course and since then. As the first luxury brand to invest in football, Hublot unquestionably has the wind in its sails and continues to stand on the touchline of Football by designing exclusive timepieces dedicated to virtuoso players, prestigious clubs, star coaches and even major competitions; the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA EURO, the Champions league and EUROPA League. A move that set its presence in the Football world so well recognized by a broad audience.
When Hublot says, “Football makes Hublot tick! Hublot loves football!” They mean it. As evident through the years, Hublot is without a doubt, always up for the challenge to shake the world.
