Girard-Perregaux Goes Racing Green: Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition
Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin unveils a new Larueato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition. Limited to 306 pieces, the watch combines Formula One racing with haute horlogerie – literally.
2021 saw the start of a new partnership between Girard-Perregaux and the iconic ultra-luxury British car manufacturer, Aston Martin. Following the success of the Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition and the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition, Girard-Perregaux has worked with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team and created a new model, the Laureato Absolute Chronograph AM F1 Edition.
A Piece of Formula One Racing on the Wrist
The new Laureato Absolute Chronograph AM F1 Edition features a 44mm case in an innovative new titanium and carbon material. The composition mixes carbon elements obtained from two F1 race cars used in 2021 racing season with titanium powder, the first in the watch industry. Using a high-tech manufacturing process, the individual components are combined and mixed into a tinted resin. The resulting material provides greater ductility than steel, giving each watch its own unique visual identity.
Similarly, the GP Rubber Alloy strap in the distinctive Aston Martin Racing Green is made from FKM Rubber and carbon elements taken from two Formula One race cars used during the 2021 season. Extensive research was undertaken to ensure the materials were compatible. This highly technical strap is supple and more resistant compared with conventional rubber.
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph AM F1 Edition is powered by the Calibre GP03300-1058 automatic Manufacture movement. The sapphire crystal caseback pane is a first for a Laureato Absolute Chronograph, and brings together visual attractiveness with a reliable powerplant, prerequisites for success.
Home Track Limited Edition
The base for the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team is in Silverstone, England, close to the iconic racetrack. The new Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph AM F1 Edition is limited to 306 pieces. The number is no coincidence: this is the total distance the team drivers, Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel, will aim to cover on race day (5.891km x 52 laps) at the 2022 British Formula One Grand Prix.
