Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato Absolute Collection

Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato collection dates back to 1975. Elements like its distinctive hexagonal bezel and linked bracelet reflect one of the most popular innovations of the era: the luxury sport watch. After nearly three decades of success, the Laureato fizzled out of the Girard-Perregaux catalogue until the brand revived the collection in 2016. At this year’s SIHH show, they have unveiled three new watches called the Laureato Absolute collection.

The trio consists of the straightforward Laureato Absolute as well as a chronograph and a WW.TC version. Each of the three variations boast a contemporary 44mm case with a strikingly handsome design. They feature a white inner bezel ring that frames a sunburst dial. It showcases a graded colour scheme with a black exterior that fades to a blue centre. All of the models also boast a polished and satin-brushed black PVD-treated titanium finish. The trio of watches are completed with a black rubber strap featuring contrasting blue topstitching and a triple-blade folding clasp with adjustment system. Inside, each model is equally robust. All three watches come equipped with Manufacture movements boasting water resistance up to 300 metres.

Overall, the three-handed Laureato Absolute reprises the fundamental principles of the original while adding a modern twist. It features a bold red seconds hand and date window at the six-o’clock position. Under the hood, you will find the GP03300-1060 automatic movement with a 46-hour power reserve.

While the simplicity of the Laureato Absolute gives a nod to the original, the chronograph variation fully embodies the sportiness of the collection. This sportiness is reflected in the Laureato Absolute Chronograph’s newly revamped pushers and its angular, ergonomic design. This variation houses the brand’s GP03300-1058 automatic movement, which also boasts a 46-hour power reserve.

Finally, the Laureato Absolute WW.TC takes the collection into the realm of high horology with the worldtime function. This exciting variation marks the debut of the complication within the Laureato collection. Inside, the model houses Girard-Perregaux’s GP03300-1056 automatic movement with a similar 46-hour power reserve.

With each subsequent variation in the Laureato collection, Girard-Perregaux’s design has enhanced. More sophisticated and contemporary than ever before, the Laureato Absolute trio directly speaks to the needs to today’s active men. Each model has a strong presence on the wrist and an array of functional options to suit any unique need. Girard-Perregaux has brought the time-tested design of the Laureato into the modern era with the Absolute collection.
