Super League Champions 6 Years in a Row
Johor Darul Ta’zim FC, also simply known as JDT, is one of Southeast Asia’s most ambitious clubs with facilities that rival some of the best teams in the continent. Founded in 2013, JDT is the first team in the country to win six consecutive Super League titles in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. No team had ever won the league championship more than two successive years since a league system was first introduced in Malaysia in 1979.
Notably, the club signed Spain’s 2008 UEFA European Championship winner Dani Guiza in 2013 and renowned Argentinean midfielder Pablo Aimar the following season. Fellow Argentine international player and Olympic winner Luciano Figueroa was also signed in 2014. Figueroa was instrumental in JDT’s historic AFC Cup triumph and still remains with the club today, albeit in a different role. Figueroa first was Ambassador and Director prior of becoming Manager in August 2018.
