Every Moment Counts: A Look at Our Shared Milestones to Celebrate the 25 Years of URWERK

URWERK will soon celebrate its 25th anniversary. In the lead up to this momentous milestone, we look back at some of our shared memories over the years.

2007 – TEMPUS “Temple of Time”

URWERK was one of the independent watchmaking brands exhibited in this landmark watch festival. Held at Raffles Convention Centre in Singapore, the 5 day watch festival showcased watches from 55 exhibitors. One of the first of many milestones with URWERK.

2009 – URWERK at L’Atelier by The Hour Glass

URWERK founders Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner with Boutique Manager Alan Teo and then Group Executive Director of The Hour Glass Michael Tay at the L’Atelier by The Hour Glass. The first thematic salon dedicated to artisanal watchmaking by The Hour Glass opened in 2009 and continues to showcase URWERK watches today.

2015 – Rebels with a Cause

Celebrating a decade of contemporary modernist watchmaking, The Hour Glass presented Rebels with a Cause: A Trilogy. Three leading contemporary brands – URWERK, MB&F and  De Bethune – converged at the Grand Salon ballroom of the esteemed Grand Hyatt Hotel Singapore in an engaging forum session with 200 VIP guests who share a passion and love for independent watchmaking.

2019 – URWERK x The Hour Glass Commemorative Edition

URWERK’s gratitude to The Hour Glass took the form of an original watchmaking creation. A momentous milestone with URWERK in itself, the watchmaker’s tribute to its Singapore partner for 15 years is a series of three self-winding watches made in bronze. “Bronze also marks the passage of time,” URWERK’s co-founder, Martin Frei, pointed out. “Every hour leaves its mark, creating a living patina.”

2020 – The 4th Dimension

This is the life story of Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei, captured as part of the “Lives of Artists”, a collection of 9 short films on contemporary artists and independent watchmakers, commissioned by The Hour Glass. The URWERK co-founders talk about their childhoods, family influences, their meeting, and the influence of science fiction on their horological creations.
