Ladurée Singapore Opens Its Doors At Takashimaya Shopping Centre

Facade that stands out with its beguiling french decor

Following our earlier post on the impending opening of the luxury parisian patisserie, Ladurée, the creme-de-la creme of macarons, has finally opened its doors on April 15. The first in Singapore and in Southeast Asia, Ladurée has two stores in Takashimaya Shopping Centre: a counter on Level 1 that sells only the famed macarons (between french luxury houses, Chanel and Louis Vuitton), and another, a boutique that retails the other collectibles such as home scents, candles, jams, teas and tote bags, aside from the macarons.

Of teas, jams, honey and everything nice

True to its French roots, the decor of the two outposts are imbued with French classicism from the little lamps with black hats that sit elegantly on the corners of the counter at level 1, the chandeliers to the uniform that the female service staff don. As Mr David Holder, Chairman of Ladurée, puts it, his shops regardless of locations in the world, should be archetypal French and possibly evoke a nostalgic feel of France in the 18th and 19th century; having borne a long and illustrious 150 years of history.

The boutique is decked out in fresh pastel colors and a high ceiling awashed in baby blue and white clouds, that conjures up images of cherubic angels, cotton candy and of course, macarons. Ladurée, is after all, the first inventor of the double-decker parisian sweet that is now known as macaron, the world over. The boutique carries the other whimsical irrestible offerings while the driving force is still the delectable sweets that line the centrepiece- decadent macarons that come in a tantalising palette of colors.

No less than 10 flavours, they are the same as their Parisian counterpart. In fact, the concept and merchandise are no different from the original boutique in Paris, save for the pretty pink Singapore box that is made specially for the Singapore market (tip: they are while stocks last).

Priced at S$3.80 a piece, we hear that the salted caramel is the local favourite with Chocolate Yuzu a close second. But the sesaonal flavour of Marie-Antoniette has won many hearts over with its delightful shade of azure that is oh-so-pretty and subtly infused with tea.

Are you ready to experience a slice of French artisanal culture here in Singapore? And while you are at it, indulge in a macaron or two. Make your way down to Ladurée now.
