Swiss Horological Excellence meets Inimitable Italian Style

The creation of the Octo L’Originale in 2012 established the collection’s charismatic personality and unique style. The octagonal architecture is inspired by the geometrical motifs adorning the arches of the Pantheon in Rome, and proclaims the unwavering link to the heart of Bulgari’s heritage.

In 2014, the Octo Finissimo collection reinterpreted classic and sophisticated complications and set about redefining traditional haute horlogerie, with 8 different record-breaking movements. This collection goes beyond established rules and pushes the limits of watchmaking, pursuing ultra-thin timekeeping, acoustic, and astronomical complicated movements.

The saga begins with the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Manual from 2014, featuring the world’s thinnest hand-wound flying tourbillon movement. It continues with the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater (2016), Octo Finissimo Automatic (2017) and the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Automatic (2018).

The Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic (2019) and the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic (2020) continues the record-breaking streak. Pushing the limits further, the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar (2021) is the slimmest perpetual calendar with an automatic movement on the market, measuring a movement thickness of 2.75mm and total thickness of 5.80mm.

The latest addition, the Octo Finissimo Ultra, sets the eighth record for the collection. At just 1.80mm, it is the thinnest mechanical watch in the world. To achieve this, the architecture of the automatic movement had to be completely redesigned. A unique gear train connects the overlapping components of the movement in compact layers, and the case back forms the baseplate of the movement itself.

“This fabulous benchmark that we are setting today with the Octo Finissimo Ultra is in fact for me and all the teams an apparently impossible dream come true. One that guarantees that Bulgari will forever be recognised as a company that has written some of the finest pages in Swiss watchmaking. And the fact that this is an Italian house makes us particularly proud.” Jean-Christophe Babin, Bulgari CEO.
