Audemars Piguet’s latest space is located in The Hour Glass at Paragon, Singapore. The shop-in-shop showcases an original Audemars Piguet concept design that captures over 140-years of the brand’s core values: origins, artistry, and extraordinary relationship. The blend of wood, metal and idyllic landscapes of Le Brassus immerses clients in the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland, birthplace of Audemars Piguet. This new space also commemorates over 30 years of The Hour Glass’s illustrious partnership with Audemars Piguet, one of the world’s oldest luxury watch manufacturer.

Emblematic timepieces as well as limited editions can be found in The Hour Glass. One such timepiece is the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph. In a limited edition of only 5 pieces, the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph in 18-carat yellow gold was created in dedication to The Hour Glass.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph

Just over thirty years since the Royal Oak was launched in 1972, the avant-garde Royal Oak Concept was introduced into the third millennium in 2002. Born of a dream, the Royal Oak Concept was dedicated to absolute performance, combining technical sophistication with extreme resistance. The exacerbated pure lines of the case are gently rounded, while the oblique geometry extends the bezel, highlighting the famous octagon and its eight hexagonal screws. These organic shapes were expressed through innovative materials stemming from the most advanced technological research of the Audemars Piguet manufacture.

Today, the brand forges its own path and defies traditional conventions once more by bringing back the most elemental material to the surface, pushing boundaries towards new sources of creativity. Cased in 18-carats of luxurious yellow gold, the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph features the tourbillon visible at the 9 o’clock and a linear chronograph minute counter with central sweep-seconds hand, set on the mainplate of the movement that acts as the dial, exquisitely complemented by the alligator strap in a royal shade of green. This timepiece is also available with its case entirely set with brilliant-cut diamonds and bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds.

ROYAL OAK EXTRA-THIN THE HOUR GLASS
In 2015, Audemars Piguet also presented the Royal Oak Extra-Thin The Hour Glass. In a limited edition of 50 pieces, the Royal Oak Extra-Thin in 18-carat yellow gold was created in dedication to The Hour Glass. Featuring a full 18-carat yellow gold case and bracelet, the timepiece showcased the brand’s signature “petite tapisserie” dial in an exquisite shade of green. It featured also a personalized oscillating weight engraved with the inscription of “The Hour Glass” and “One of Fifty”.

In 1972, Audemars Piguet broke all rules when the first luxury timepiece fully in stainless steel was created – the Royal Oak. This revolution opened up an important and creative chapter in the history of haute horlogerie, paving the way for the manufacture to explore new groundbreaking materials and alloys – carbon, titanium, tantalum, stellite, including various shades of gold. Despite a plethora of successes in this aspect, gold has always been a dominant material used to externally express its inner beauties: most cases, indexes, numbers, hands, and oscillating weights were still in gold since the origins. This new take of the classic Royal Oak in full 18-carat yellow gold is a demonstration that, in parallel with the greatest creativity, gold stays untouchable.
