A Technicolour Summer Blast!
RJ-Romain Jerome has done it again! The brand introduces a new generational Icon to the wondrous Collaborations collection, bringing us back to the 1980’s with an iconic video game favourite.
RJ-Romain Jerome and The Tetris Company, LLC are proud to present the newest addition to RJ-Romain Jerome’s Generational Icons, the Tetris-DNA! In celebration of the game’s anniversary, initially released in June 1984 and designed by Alexey Pajitnov, the iconoclastic brand has immortalized a Tetris gaming sequence on the dial of the watch.
The Tetris-DNA’s dial features a random sequence of the game’s signature Tetriminos, the famous geometric shapes composed of four square blocks, housed in the famous 46 mm Moon Invader case. This iconic case has become the exclusive home of RJ-Romain Jerome’s Generational Icons collection, with an atypical design that enhances the uniqueness of the brand’s concept and its artisanal know-how.
“It made sense for me to collaborate with Tetris as it’s one of the greatest games of all time. I remember playing on my Game Boy first generation for hours as my addiction grew stronger with time. It’s an honour for me to immortalize this game in an RJ-Romain Jerome watch and share my passion with our collectors and fans” says Manuel Emch, CEO of RJ-Romain Jerome Watches.
The Moon Invader’s black PVD-coated titanium case highlights the famous Tetriminos that have been gem-set by hand in the center of the dial. Focusing on RJ-Romain Jerome’s savvy artisanal know-how, each Tetrimino has been crafted as a combination of four “Clou de Paris” in aluminium – a first for RJ-Romain Jerome. This very complex process once again positions RJ-Romain Jerome as an avant-garde watchmaker, always innovating and creating original decorations for its timepieces. Furthermore, each “Clou de Paris” has been anodized thanks to a special process which enhances the complex artisanal execution and helps bring out the fine details on the dial.
A custom made Tetris medallion, inspired by the game’s branding, is fitted on the case-back of this limited edition timepiece. Once again, RJ-Romain Jerome introduces a limited edition of 84 “Lines” based on the year Tetris was created: 1984.
