Watches of Switzerland NEX Serangoon Now Open

Serangoon, Singapore: Four sides to a perfect square – Watches of Switzerland is pleased to announce the opening of its fourth boutique in Singapore at NEX shopping mall, the largest mall in the North-East region and one of the largest suburban malls in the country. 

The latest boutique hosts a distinctive line-up of brands: Tudor, TAG Heuer, Grand Seiko, Louis Erard, Longines, NOMOS Glashütte, Bell & Ross, Breitling, Junghans and Sinn.

Every element of the 880 square foot boutique space was carefully chosen to elevate the client experience. From the subdued colour palette to the open-plan construction and floor-to-ceiling windows fronting the boutique, the space was designed as a welcoming environment for lively discussions on watches.  

Watches of Switzerland is proud to introduce two new names under its stable of brands: Grand Seiko and Louis Erard.

 Grand Seiko 

In 2021, Seiko celebrates the 140th anniversary since Kintarō Hattori founded the Japanese watchmaker. As one of the very few fully integrated watch manufactures operating in the world, Seiko prides itself on its ideal standards of precision, durability and beauty. Grand Seiko’s recent creations are the culmination of 140 years of watchmaking excellence; made by hand, Grand Seiko’s skilled artisans elevate the pure essentials of watchmaking into an art form.   

 The Grand Seiko style is based on a unique Japanese sense of aesthetics. Inspired by Japan’s nature and twenty-four sekki (Japanese for ‘seasons’), the watches are created with respect to the Japanese sense of beauty – the Japanese aesthetic of light, shadow, and perfect flatness. Evident in frequent use of highly polished smooth surface areas as a key design element. Today, even after half a century, the appeal of Grand Seiko’s iconic style endures, attracting the admiration of watch enthusiasts around the world. 

 Louis Erard 

Since 1929, Louis Erard has prided itself on making watches that champion horological expertise, while remaining relatively affordable. Its motto says it all, “A love for craftsmanship in the finest Swiss tradition.” 

Made in Switzerland in the heart of ‘Watch Valley’, Louis Erard has once again rose to prominence through its shrewd collaborations with iconic watchmakers (Vianney Halter and Alain Silberstein), and for its classically styled dress watches. The Excellence Guilloché Main incorporates guilloche in a thoroughly modern way, the 3D checked pattern catches the eye like a trompe-l’oeil: an unusual MC-Escher-esque pattern that somewhat breaks the traditional design codes of the hand-guilloché dials. The effect is reinforced by the black varnish, used to cover the dial before the guilloché, and the final rhodium plating that gives a silver patina to the brass exposed by the chisel.
