Franck Muller x The Hour Glass (Commemorative Edition)

Backstory

First unveiled in 1996, the idea for Franck Muller’s Master Banker was birthed from the frustrations of a banker wishing to view three trading time zones at a glance. Up until that point, most timepieces displaying additional time zones only displayed the hour, not the minute hand. Inspired, Franck Muller hatched a brilliant plan to simultaneously view three different clock faces at the flip of one’s wrist – with each telling a different time. Unlike conventional ‘GMT’ watches, this configuration allows for the user to track time zones which offset UTC by 30 or 45 minutes.

To celebrate our 40th anniversary, we’re pleased to announce our next Commemorative Edition, the Franck Muller Cintrée Curvex Master Banker Asia Exclusive – a region-exclusive wristwatch showcasing the marque’s signature three time zone complication housed within the timeless Cintrée Curvex case.

Displaying three timezones: Central time is flanked by two additional timezone sub-counters at 12 and 6 o’clock. Local date aperture at 8 o’clock

The 36.00mm (width) x 50.40mm (length) stainless-steel case measures in at a svelte 11.4mm tall. Underneath the domed sapphire crystal, two mocha-coloured sub dials pop against the black sunray-finished dial, with the words ‘Frack Muller’ encircling the lower half of the upper sub dial and ‘Master Banker’ running along the top half of the lower sub dial. Stainless-steel feuille hands are found throughout, with the central hour and minute hands differing slightly to those found on the sub dials, with the inner segment of the hands filled-in white.

The 82-component self-winding calibre MVD 2800-MBSC has a bi-directional rotor, beats at 28, 800 vibrations/hour, has 21 jewels, is water-resistant to 3ATM and has a power reserve of 42 hours. Replete with Côtes de Genève and sunray brushing on the bridges and rotor, circular graining on the two sides of the main plate and chamfering of the bridges. Parts have been given a 24K gold bath and rhodium plating, there’s also a 24k gold finish on the written engravings and circular brushing of the rotor ball bearing.

Coming on a hand-sewn brown leather strap. Each Master Banker has an individually numbered engraved stainless-steel case back and is limited to 38 pieces.
