Founded in July 1979 with the first boutique at Lucky Plaza Shopping Centre, Orchard Road.

October 1987 The Hour Glass had a management buy-out.

1990 The Hour Glass won the Business Time Enterprise Award.

1991 The Hour Glass won the National Productivity (Companies) Award.

1991 and 1992 The Hour Glass won the American Express Service Excellence Award.

December 1993 The Hour Glass was awarded “The Retailer of The Month” by Singapore Tourism Promotion Board.

1993 Diners Club awarded The Hour Glass with the “Favorite Independent Retail Store”.

1994 Singapore Tourism Promotion Board presented the Specialty Store Award to The Hour Glass.

1999 The Hour Glass celebrates its 20th Anniversary.

2000 The Hour Glass’s new innovative retail store concept for the 21st century .

2001 The Hour Glass’s new flagship boutique opened in Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2002 The Hour Glass opens its first multi-brand boutique in Ginza, Tokyo.

2003 The Hour Glass new boutique at Gaysorn

2003 The Hour Glass opens the first Montblanc boutique in Sydney, Australia.

2004 The Hour Glass celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Viva Las Vegas themed dinner at The Ritz Carlton, and raised $460,000 for the Singapore Repertory Theatre and the Community Chest.

2004 As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, The Hour Glass presented ‘TEMPUS – The Great Watchscapade’. TEMPUS was a five-day exhibition cum conference, the first and only event of its kind and scale in the world featuring a collection of watches valued at $120 million coupled with over 150 hours of seminars and workshops aimed at enhancing the watch culture in Singapore.

2005 Tempus – The Great Watchscapade was awarded the “Best Retail Event of the Year” by Singapore Retailers Association.

2006 The Hour Glass Ltd won "Most Transparent Company Award" by SIAS.

In January 2007, The Hour Glass was awarded "The Brand Laureate" award for brand excellence in the fine timepieces category by the prestigious Asia Pacific Brands Foundation in Kuala Lumpur.
